At 9:00 PM, things will migrate over to The (Jack-O) Lantern for the Monster's Ball (tickets must be purchased in advance for non-local residents). Shake off the cobwebs to our macabre musicians and devious DJs, and calm your nerves with all manner of creepy cocktails and spooky spirits.

We are a female owned Brooklyn-based business that to aims to make people feel welcomed, curious, entertained and connected through our food and the experiences that surround it. Inspired by heritage, a love of middle eastern food culture and good ‘ol American nostalgia we started savta as a pop-up Sunday brunch in Bed-Stuy and are now working towards opening a permanent space in 2019.
 

about our food: 

Our food infuses the flavors, ingredients, textures and characteristics of Israeli food culture into the modern American diner-style table to create delicious meals that are familiar yet surprising.
Dishes are inspired by cherished food memories and stories that evoke a warm nostalgic feeling to serve people in ways that will inspire and nourish the soul.

 

 

about the women of savta

Alana Zeitchik and Caitlin Hubner are long time pals turned partners thanks to the marvel of Craigslist in 2008. Alana has had a successful career in media+advertising, most recently as Eater’s Director of Brand Marketing. Caitlin is a chef trained by the Natural Gourmet Institute and has worked FOH and BOH at some of nyc’s finest including Roberta’s, Dirt Candy and Mission Chinese.
Back in 2012 they were two girls in their twenties living in Brooklyn and trying to survive while still being able to eat out. While living together they spent much of their free time dreaming up mad scientist ideas that would be more fun than their day jobs. Now that they are in their thirties not much has changed.
Finally, they’ve come together to bring one of their ideas to life.  Earlier this year they started s a v t a as a pop-up brunch in Bed-Stuy and are now working towards opening a permanent space in 2019.

Community Day

Celebrate the Wassaic Community with us on Saturday, May 12th! What Cheer? Brigade, an exuberant 19-piece band, will lead a parade featuring community and artist-made floats. Other festivities include field day games, play Cake Whack, jump around in bouncy castles, see the opening of our Summer Exhibition, Change of State and more! The party will extend into the evening with live music at The Lantern ($10 cover) .** The Lantern will also be serving their famous fried chicken basket which includes coleslaw, fries, and a leg and thigh ($13)**.

**Proceeds go to the Whale Scholarship Fund. The scholarship provides students with funds for their personal education costs of books, travel or housing who have graduated from Webutuck or Dover high schools and are pursuing higher education and vocational opportunities.

**Kids 17 and under are free

Harlem Line

Local faves the Halrem Line will be burning down the house on Saturday, March 3 starting at 9pm. 

The Harlem Line band is a six-piece rock & roll band playing originals as well as covering songs by a diverse group of artists such as the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin and more. 

Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 per person. Come early for food and drinks, this show always gets PACKED!
